I Miss Boost!

« on: February 13, 2005, 09:15:46 PM »

I am very exited... I just ordered the Ansa M2 Dual Exhaust from Enthuza! Grin

This is how it looks installed on a Ti!

I liked the sound of the XR, but thought it was a bit too loud.  Plus, I have always been a fan of dual exhaust.

Looks good. I'm still shocked Mazda has not come out with a dual option. Jim

A guy named AtlantaDave sent me the following, perhaps it would be a good post for the "FAQ and How To" section.

note, the pic brentikus posted is AtlantaDave's MSM with the dual exhaust, SWEEEET!!!

I wondered if the only way to modify the rear bumper.

here it is:

QUOTE AtlantaDave:
Greg -

I went to Chad (of Enthuza) and he installed it for me at his house
since we both live in the Atlanta area.  I helped...alittle.

Anyway, he did not want to cut my lower rear bumper.  He gave me a
printed paper template and I used that to trace an outline of the opening
that I was going to cut out on the bumper on the driver's side.  I did
careful measurements to ensure that it was equidistant from the existing
exhaust opening on the right hand side.

I used a pencil to do the outline (the pencil lead showed up really
well on the black lower lip) and then used a very sharp utility knife to
do the cutout.  The black plastic is very easy to cut, but as you cut
higher into the bumper, it goes from 1 layer to 2 layers.  Also, we
encountered a spacer clip between the layers and ended up using a hammer and
screwdriver to knock it out and finished the cutting.

Once the opening was cut out, we removed the old muffler and then
mounted the new one.

The hardest and longest process of the installation was the cutout.
Install of the muffler was a breeze and a perfect fit.

Here's the link to the muffler at Enthuza:
http://www.enthuzacar.com/img/m2duals.jpg

Also, on their new homepage, that's my MSM:
http://enthuza.com/

Be advised that it's no where near as 'growling' as I thought it'd be
due to the MSM's turbo.  Just a smidge louder than stock.  BUT...it's a
beautiful piece.

Hope all this helps.

AtlantaDave

I actually used the FM template on their website fot the cut.  I also used sandpaper to do the final shaping and clean up the burs.  I may be able to get a hold of a digital camera to post pics of the cut sunday.

I found the template included with the exaust was a little confusing.  here is a link for it.

I found the FM approach was easier.  It involved measuring 1 3/8" from a vertical support on the backside of the bumper cover.

nice! look forward to pics, especially if you can get a nice tight shot of the cut so we can compare to the original pipe position.

how's the sound/performace?

The sound is only slightly louder than stock, but i have only put 30 miles on it so far.  I do not really feel any performance gains, but it sure looks good Smiley

Brent -

Glad you got the twins!  I love mine!

I'm liike you - I didn't notice much difference in the sound, but it did seem like a slight increase in power in the lower rpms.  Though I was measuring it with my seat-o-meter.

Greg - I'll try and get some pics of both openings posted later in the week.  You just need to go ahead and take the plunge and DO
it.  It's only money....you can eat later.   Grin

I'm trying to do the dual exhaust mod myself and I had a few questions. The FM template is for the normal miata bumper did you use it to cutout the MSM piece as well? After the cut can you see behind the MSM piece and is it noticeable? I would love to see some pics. If you have any extra info thats not in the thread could let me know. Thanks. rock

Well, since this thread I have sold the dual exhaust and am currently running a 2.5" Enthuza Speeder. Here are some pics from the dual exhaust setup:
