Yes, no problem. I kept the factory hardtop from my 2002 Ti SE when I traded it for my 2004 Ti MSM. I had to get new Frankinstien bolts but thats all.

I've got one too.

Fits great, makes visibility with the top up about doubly as good. Still in flat black primer. Nice and low-class.  afro

I asked my dealer about it when I traded in my 99(classic red with had hardtop) for the VR.  They told me it wouldnt fit.  I looked into it and I found out on miata.net that the clips/brackets are different than from 99-2000.  I am thinking I should have kept my side brackets from my trade in...

As is, I think I have to spend about $500 to buy new hardware to secure the hardtop I kept from my 99.  Anyone know where I can find cheap hardware to mount my hardtop?

You don't need to spend $500 in parts to adapt an older hardtop to an '05.  The difference in the latches is just the little plastic nipple that fits into the windshield header.  Cost is about $4 each, you need two of them.

Side latches are often available on Miata.net classifieds, all years fit.

Your plastic trim panels can easily be cut to accomodate the side latches, most have the cutout marked on the back.

The pigtail for the defrost is more difficult, you can occaisonially find them on the classifieds, new they are about $90 - 100.

If you have to change the color, that will be the most expensive part of the project.
